The severe winter season is coming soon, and the ambient temperature in the area where many customers are located will be below 0 degrees. Low temperature freezing is the biggest threat to the safety of lasers and cold water systems. The consequences of damage are also very serious. In order to fully do a good job in prevention and protection, please pay attention to it and prevent unnecessary economic losses. If it is necessary to avoid freezing of the laser water cooler in a low temperature environment, this article will remind customers to consider the following measures:
1: The recommended method to prevent freezing is to keep the water cooler and laser in an environment with a temperature above 0 degrees Celsius
2: If the above conditions cannot be met, please keep the laser and water cooler always on. If the water in the pipeline is always flowing, it can prevent freezing. Of course, in this case, if the water cooler is shut down for a long time due to failure or power failure, there is also a certain risk of freezing.
3: If none of the above methods can be done, you can add antifreeze. The addition ratio is 3:7 (3 is antifreeze, 7 is water). After adding antifreeze, it can resist -20°C without freezing.
4: During nights and holidays, if the above three points cannot be done, you can drain the water in the laser and water cooler water tanks and pipelines as much as possible, please follow the instructions below.
1) Water coolers dedicated to lasers need drainage parts; water tanks, pipelines, pump heads, filters, deionization tanks (optional accessories)
2) Water tank drainage method: as shown in the figure below, open the drain valve at the lower part of the water tank to drain the water in the water tank. If necessary, tilt the water cooler at a certain angle, and the drain port is the lowest point.
3) Drainage in the pipeline: use compressed air to blow from the inlet and outlet of low-temperature water and high-temperature water for 1 minute respectively, and then drain water from the outlet of the water tank.
4) Open the water tank cover and observe whether there is residual water in the water tank. If there is, tilt the chiller slightly to drain the water or use a dry towel to absorb the water.
5) Water pump head drainage: There is a drain screw at the bottom of the pump head of each water pump. When the water chiller needs to be shut down or transported for a long time, the water drain screw of the pump head must be opened to drain the water in the pump. It is best to use a compressor. Blow out the air, then tighten the drain screw.
Suitable for frequent use of fiber lasers and continuous operation
1. Install air conditioning or heating facilities to keep the ambient temperature at about 10 degrees Celsius.
2. Run the refrigerator for 24 hours, and the water will not freeze under the flowing state.
3. Add ethylene glycol antifreeze to the water tank to prevent freezing, and its freezing point changes with the concentration of ethylene glycol in the aqueous solution.
Notice:
(1) Antifreeze is an industrial product and is poisonous to the human body. Please avoid direct contact with the skin!
(2) Do not use propylene glycol-water type antifreeze!
Drainage method
When the fiber laser cutting machine is not used for a long time or the power is cut off, be sure to drain the water in the refrigerator water tank.
1. Turn off the power of the equipment, open the drain valve behind the refrigerator, and drain the water in the water tank.
2. Go to the water pipe behind the water tank and mark it. Use 0.2MPA (2KG) gas to connect to a section of the water pipe (Φ12) to empty the water in the laser.
3. Use 0.2MPA (2KG) gas to connect to one end of the water pipe (Φ8), and empty the water in the cutting head.
Notice:
1) Excessive pressure of the gas used for drainage can easily damage the laser.
2) The laser, laser output head, processing head and all cooling water in the chiller must be drained to effectively protect the entire set of water cooling pipelines and related components!
Appendix: How to Add Antifreeze
1. Name: Ethylene glycol, which can be purchased in local hardware and chemical stores and online, but the liquid cannot be transported.
2. The ratio with deionized water is about 30%, (70% water, 30% ethylene glycol).
3. Be sure to add antifreeze when the ambient temperature is below 0 degrees (inclusive).
4. Ethylene glycol is not equal to ethanol (alcohol), please make a strict distinction.
5. The full name of the purchase is: antifreeze ethylene glycol.
